Arsenal could consider the sale of Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey, should the club fail to find a breakthrough in their contract negotiations.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are weighing up what to do with Ramsey, as he’ll be out of contract in 2019 and therefore free to leave the club. The Gunners may have to cash in early rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

The £110,000-per-week star is said to be requiring a significant pay-rise after seeing the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earn handsome deals following their January arrivals.

Should the club fail to meet his demands, Ramsey could end his 10-year stay at the club. The Sun say Arsenal’s Player of the Season has a £40m price tag this summer.

The midfielder has been hugely influential on the pitch in recent seasons and has scored the winning goal in two of Arsenal’s last three FA Cup final bouts.

His ongoing contract situation will concern supporters as the summer transfer window opens. Similarly, Jack Wilshere has yet to decide whether or not to commit to a new deal.

In addition to the two mdifielders having uncertain futures, Arsenal have to appoint Arsene Wenger’s successor this summer. Former Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta appears to be the leading candidate.
