According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are ‘in talks’ with Chelsea over a deal for Willian this summer. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge as a result of the Blues’ struggles this season and Jose Mourinho’s desperation to bring him to Old Trafford.

Willian joined Chelsea from Russian Premier League side Anzhi in 2013 and has gone on to make 235 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 83 goals. The Brazilian international has been in decent form this season, contributing 25 goals in 54 games across the board under Antonio Conte but his future is uncertain.

Mourinho signed Willian during his second stint as manager and wants to renew acquaintances with the 29-year-old in the coming weeks as United need somebody capable of playing on the right-wing. Despite suggesting he wouldn’t be adding to the Red Devils’ attack over the summer, MEN believe Willian is an exception to the rule.

The United boss tried to sign him in 2016 and again in 2017 but hasn’t managed to agree a deal with Chelsea for his signature. Mourinho isn’t likely to give up, however, but it’s unknown if the Blues would accept a fee for such a good servant to the club. Willian hasn’t made any public suggestion that he wants to leave either.
