According to the Scottish Herald, Celtic are in advanced talks to sign Liverpool wonderkid Rhian Brewster on a season-long loan this summer.

The Scottish champions are close to completing a deal for the striker who was part of England u17 side team that bagged the World cup last year. Brewster was also awarded the Golden Boot for finishing as the tournament’s top scorer.

The deal is yet to be completed, however, amid interest from other suitors, but the Merseysiders are open to him joining Celtic and Brewster is happy with the arrangement.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes joining the Hoops would be ideal for the 18-year-old, as he can continue developing in an attacking side at a good competitive level.

The striker has yet to make a first-team appearance for Liverpool team but has netted eight goals in 19 appearances for the u23s this season.

Brewster would be an exciting option for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard, who have been linked with moves to Villarreal and Vitoria respectively.

Brewster has pace and excellent movement that would make him a good alternate option for Celtic. If things go well, he could compete with Leigh Griffiths for a starting place.

A loan move wouldn’t break the bank for Celtic and could be a smart move to ensure they have enough attacking quality for next season’s title challenge.
