According to the Daily Record, Southampton are keen on signing Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic this summer, as the 25-year-old enters the final year of his deal at Parkhead.

One of Celtic’s most talented players and an ever-present when fit, Rogic could be on his way to the South Coast if the Saints secure their Premier League status. Rogic joined Celtic from Central Coast in 2014 and has gone on to make 128 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 52 goals.

The Australian international has been in fine form this season, contributing 16 goals in 37 games, helping Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title and League Cup, with the Scottish Cup final to come later this month.

However, Rogic could be on his way out as he’s turned down the offer of a contract extension. The 25-year-old could leave on a free transfer in 2019, but Celtic might cash in on the midfielder this summer rather than lose him for nothing a year later.

As a result, Southampton have been dealt a boost in their pursuit of the Celtic star. The Saints have had only good experiences signing Hoops players in the past – Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama – and they believe Rogic has the quality to improve their midfield.
