Manchester United are in the FA Cup final after securing a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho‘s men went behind minutes into the game after Deli Alli struck, but the Red Devils impressively fought back to overturn the deficit, courtesy of Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera.
Alexis Sanchez loves playing at Wembley
Alexis’ inclusion in Mourinho’s starting lineup raised many questions among fans about why Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were left out after their form in midweek, but the former Arsenal forward impressed and got on the scoresheet at Wembley again.
Mourinho’s decision paid off, with the Chilean netting his sixth goal in five matches at the stadium. He linked up well with Paul Pogba for United’s opener, heading home the Frenchman’s cross past Michel Vorm.
Spurs’ continued wait for silverware could be costly
Mauricio Pochettino‘s has one of the most talented squads in Europe at Tottenham, but their failure to secure a trophy this season could result in one or two key players seeking an exit sooner rather than later.
The North London club have gone over a decade without any silverware and the Argentine boss may need to end the drought next season or risk losing the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen who have been both been linked with Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho set for possible date with Chelsea
Mourinho has enjoyed a hot-and-cold relationship with Chelsea fans since leaving Stamford Bridge he second time, and would surely love the opportunity to beat them in the FA Cup final.
The Blues face Southampton in the other semi-final on Sunday afternoon and could come up against their former manager if they win at Wembley. It could also be Antonio Conte‘s last game in charge of Chelsea if they did reach the final, as his future is uncertain this summer.
Chelsea are odds-on to beat Southampton, which should mean they face United in a mouthwatering final next month.
