Celtic and Rangers are set to battle it out in the race to sign Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson in the summer, according to reports from The Sun.
As per the report, Robson, 21, could be available for just £150,000 when the window reopens in the summer and this has left Celtic and Rangers on red alert.
The 21-year-old has broken into the Black Cats first-team this season and has registered 5 appearances for the Championship side. The midfielder is an highly rated star and he is one who they will not want to lose in the summer.
However, with Sunderland battling against relegation to League One, this transfer rumour is not going to help the club’s cause. Robson could have a big role to play for Chris Coleman’s side for the rest of the season with injuries and the decision to loan midfielder Didier N’Dong to Watford in the transfer window.
Celtic and Rangers in race for a player is an often trend. But if the rumours about Robson are anything to go by, the midfielder will have a touch choice on his hands as to which side of Glasgow he should join. Sveco have been busy over the past month or so as they look to bring a whole host of new players to Ibrox under Graeme Murty, whereas Celtic are top of the league and will see Robson as one for the future.
Ethan Robson is from Sunderland and the midfielder has been one of the club’s brightest young players to have come up through their academy in recent years. He is one the club will not want to lose in the summer but with relegation a doom for the club, that could be another issue.
