Celtic star Michael Johnston will be out of action for the remainder of the season, according to a report.

The 18-year-old bagged a thigh muscle injury with the early verdict that he won’t be seen in action again until the summer.

Johnston was given his first team appearance at home to St Johnstone last season just after his 18th birthday and has registered four appearances this season, his last appearance for Celtic was a substitute against Brechin in the Scottish Cup.

With Jonny Hayes also out of action for the remainder of the season Patrick Roberts remains the only back up winger for Scott Sinclair and James Forrest but the Manchester City loanee hasn’t played a match for Celtic since November.

Celtic have virtually a full team of players currently out injured with Kris Ajer and Dedryck Boyata the most recent additions to that list.

Anthony Ralston came through today’s SFA Youth Cup win over St Johnstone with Marvin Compper penciled in for a debut against St Johnstone on February 18.
