Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has reportedly been speculated as a potential target for Tottenham Hotspur when the transfer window reopens next month. An earlier report according to the Arsenal news blog, claimed the former Southampton left-back was a possible target for Arsenal whilst also revealing Newcastle United are also keen on signing him when the window reopens in January.
The England international has been rarely used by Jose Mourinho this season, and he has managed just a few appearances in the Premier League for the Old Trafford club. Shaw remain firm favourites to join Tottenham this January according to some popular sport betting sites.
According to The Sun, Shaw who is earning £70,000-a-week at Man United is in a two-man shortlist Everton’s Ross Barkley as Spurs looks to strengthen their squad during the winter transfer window. The Wembley outfits are currently one point adrift fourth-placed Liverpool, and Tottenham’s boss Mauricio Pochettino is aiming to make January additions to boost his side’s Champions League hopes.
The left-back has recently earned a run of games across all competition, but his future at Old Trafford has still been put into question with Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to sign Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon. Meanwhile, The Sun suggest that Shaw could join Tottenham in swap deal that will see Danny Rose moving the other way.
Shaw has just over six months left on his current deal, but United have the option of a 12-month extension clause which could be triggered at the turn of the year. Shaw is presently behind Ashley Young in the pecking order for the left-back position.
In order news, as Manchester United are looking to invest hugely on new acquisitions next month, the club are also looking to hold on to the key players who are present in the current team.
One of such is Marouane Fellaini who is highly rated by Mourinho and the Portuguese boss is looking to hold on to him no matter who comes knocking for his services.
The ex-Everton man will be out of contract with the Old Trafford club next summer and he can negotiate with other suitors to reach pre-contract agreement in January.
However, new report suggest that Mourinho does not want him to leave. The Daily Star claimed Mourinho is desperate to keep the Belgium international and wants the club to do whatever it takes to reach an agreement with him.
He has had an injury hit season this time around but Fellaini when fit and given the chance, he has been brilliant for the club. So far, this season, in 4 starts across all competitions, he has netted 4 goals and provided 1 assists for the club.
As per the Daily Star, the Red Devils have made him a huge new offer worth £150,000-a-week ($200,000-a-week) to sign the new deal with the ex-Standard Liege midfielder.
