Premier League trio Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all been placed on alert by Spanish giants Real Madrid, with reports suggesting the European and La Liga title holders are ready to offload injury prone star Gareth Bale after becoming increasingly frustrated with Bale’s lack of game time, according to the Mirror.
Bale has not been seen in the white of Los Blancos since their 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in September, where the former Tottenham winger played a pivotal role in Zinedine Zidane‘s side’s convincing Champions League victory.
There is little doubt the Cardiff-born spacey winger still possesses huge quality, however it is now thought Zidane and the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium hierarchy have lost patience with Bale’s inability to keep fit.
He had been expected to make a comeback following the international break, after being ruled out during his side’s win in Germany with a calf issue.
However, after suffering yet another set back, this his out on a thigh problem, the Wales international is likely to miss the rest of the year.
It seems therefore that with the former world’s most expensive player facing even more time on the sidelines, Florentino Perez and his high-level associates are now willing to look at an alternative option – with the Los Blancos placing an £85m asking price on the Southampton academy graduate’s head.
In the past, Manchester United have made little effort in their keen interest in Bale, with Jose Mourinho‘s side reportedly failing on a number of occasions to sign the playmaker to Old Trafford after their attempts to initially land one of the world’s best came to no avail – even before he made the move to Real Madrid in 2013.
Chelsea are another Premier League club who have also shown interest in recent years, and Mauricio Pochettino has made no attempts to hide his admiration for the three-time Champions League winner.
During Gareth Bale’s time in Spain, as well as the trio of European elite medals, the 28-year-old has claimed one La Liga title and the same amount of Spanish Cups and Spanish Super Cups as well as two Fifa Club World Cup titles and three Uefa Super Cups.
