Aston Villa should look to sign Liverpool out-of-favour star Lazar Markovic in Janaury.
One of the players who was almost certain to leave Liverpool in the summer was Lazar Markovic. He didn’t feature in the squads for the the Reds’ trips to Hong Kong or Germany, but surprisingly was named in Jurgen Klopp’s 25-man squad for the Premier League.
However, Markovic has been deemed completely surplus to requirements by Klopp, and Liverpool should let him go in January.
The Serbian star was proved to be a huge flop at Anfield, and Markovic’s £20 million signing now looks an appalling piece of business.
The doesn’t mean that he is a bad player. Markovic made his name as a promising young talent at Benfica that earned him a move to Liverpool in the first place.
Markovic’s stint with Hull City last season shows that probably he’s good enough for mid-table clubs, and in theory should be a good signing for Aston Villa.
All he needs is regular games under his belt to boost his confidence. The Liverpool flop his a pacey winger, and has the required skills to be a success at Villa.
He needs to leave Liverpool, and play at a club where he can exert his influence. And dropping down the league won’t be a bad option.
Villa are chasing promotion this season, and a player of his ability would add depth and quality to the squad. It would be a superb move that would suit all parties involved.
