Chelsea have cleared out the possibilities of Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante playing against Crystal Palace on Saturday, according to reports.

However, the Blues believes the duo will be in contention when they welcome Roma to Stamford Bridge next Wednesday in the Champions League.

Morata was sent back to London by Spain who declared the Spaniard had suffered a grade two tear in his hamstring and would not be in action for at least a month.

According to the Daily Star, it claimed the Blues do not agree with that assessment and are much more concerned about the duo recovery time.

Morata is scheduled to return to action this week as the 2016/17 Premier League champions target a step up in his injury comeback.

The Spaniard has been assessed by the medical staff at Cobham and has been cleared to step up his recovery.

The Blues resume their league campaign against the Eagles with the London club at the bottom of the table and Chelsea aiming to cut the gap between them and the top two.

Six points separate the Blues and Manchester City and Manchester United and they will be confident they can get the eighth straight defeat on Palace.

Roy Hodgson’s side have yet to net a goal this season in the league and Morata would have been keen to face a defence that has been leaking goals.

Chelsea welcome Roma to Stamford Bridge in the third game of their Champions League campaign and the Blues have marked that match as the return for the former Real Madrid striker.

Antonio Conte will welcome the news from his side medical team on Morata after Kante limped off against Bulgaria last week.

Kante will return to London on Tuesday night with fears growing he could have banjaxed an hamstring injury.

However, the Blues remain hopeful and think the Frenchman could return in time to join Morata in the Roma squad.
