Newcastle United should try and attempt a late approach to sign Stoke City’s playmaker Bojan Krkić Pérez.

According to the Sun, it claimed that the 27-year-old is set to link up with La Liga side Alaves and that they have won competition from Malaga for his signature.

It is understood that the Potters manager Mark Hughes decided late in the transfer that the Spaniard could leave on loan and there could be a permanent deal at the end of it.

However, the Magpies should consider an eleventh-hour hijack for Bojan and try to bring the attacking midfielder to St James’ Park.

The former Barcelona star has slipped down the pecking order at the Bet365 Stadium, but there is no doubt that he is fantastic technical player and needs fresh move to reignite his career.

Bojan has struggled with injury during his time in the Premier League, but that appears to behind him and Newcastle could be the perfect platform for him to shine under Rafael Benitez.

Newcastle are going to need goals from all areas of the pitch to avoid relegation and Bojan can be a strong source of goals behind the striker.

The Spaniard has scored 15 goals in 62 appearances for Stoke and at one point was a firm fan favourite at the bet365 Stadium.

He also racked up 164 appearances for Spanish giants Barcelona, where he won three La Liga title and two Champions Leagues.

He managed 41 goals and 17 assists for Barcelona and there is no reason that he can’t recapture his best form if he is given a consistent run of games.
