In a report by the Express claim that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have refused to let Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s huge price tag deter them from their pursuit of the midfielder. That could mean the Reds may offer as much as £40 million for the England international.

What does he have to offer Liverpool?

Assuming that Jurgen Klopp signs him and deployed him to the front on the wing, the Ox can bring enormous energy, speed and passion to the flanks as he did with his performance for England at Hampden Park against Scotland on Saturday evening.

Another quality that makes the 23-year-old outstanding is his versatility. This season alone, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been deployed to both central midfield and at wing-back. Such flexibility and work rate would make him attractive to Klopp.

At his age, the midfielder is renowned as one of the biggest talent in England and he still has a lot of time to improve on his skill to justify his asking price. While it would be a good buy, signing him would give a new look to the team’s attack.

Will a move be possible?

The former Southampton man’s contract with the Gunner has one season before it expires and there have been rumors that the Ox is frustrated at the little playing time he gets at the Emirates and Wenger’s obvious reluctance play him in a set position. While Arsenal are planning to hold him down at the club with a big offer,

The opportunity to work alongside Jurgen klopp could help Liverpool in their race to sign him given the German’s history of helping young stars fulfill their potential. With the World Cup hovering close, that could help Chamberlain decide on where he wants to go to get regular playing time.

Arsenal obviously does not want to release him and will drive a hard bargain in any negotiation. £40 million for a player who has a contract still valid for another year could be acceptable for the Gunners given that they will probably lose the player on a free next year.
