Manchester United are preparing to offer Antoine Griezmann a world record deal. United already spent heavily to acquire Paul Pogba but they are ready to go deep into their coffers to get the services of the French forward. Having won the Europa League and having a spot in the Champions League next season, the Red Devils will find it easy convincing the Frenchman to come Old Trafford. According to recent reports, United are ready to make him one of the highest paid players in the history of the club and are ready to offer Atletico Madrid £86 million.
Griezmann is a versatile player and it would be exciting to see what role Mourinho allows him to play. Here is how Griezmann could be utilized at the club:
Centre forward
The best role for him to play is the centre forward as he has had more practice in the role this season at Atletico Madrid and finding the net has been an easy thing for him. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial should be playing on the flanks and it will give the team a whole new look. The absence of a top scorer has dealt a them a huge blow, reducing their success in the recently concluded season. United created a lot of Chances in the last season and Griezmann can help them in that aspect.
No .10 position
Mourinho deployed a lot of players to the no. 10 position but none could put up a satisfactory effort in the position. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was a bit okay in the role but Mourinho will be hoping to get a player that can perform better. Paul Pogba’s ideal position is in the midfield as the Frenchman would love to control the central field.
Griezmann could play behind the main striker and would work as the catalyst for United’s attack. Using him in that role will not be an issue for Mourinho as United already have a number of attackers who are good at what they do at their disposal.
Wideman
Griezmann’s career started as player on the flanks and he could be the preferable options on the wing. The Portuguese gaffer had to move Rashford and Martial to the wings as he lacked little options for the role but they can go back to their former positions, giving Griezmann free rein on the flanks.
