Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been in excellent form this season, but despite all their effort, they’ve also disappointed in matches where they were expected to excel due to their sense of self satisfaction and lack of a back-up plan. Their attack is by far one of the best in the league but their defense need a major overhauling.
At the beginning of the season, they had high prospect of claiming the title glory but now they are placed third in the Premier League 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
It has been reported Klopp will get access to transfer funds up to £150m given his penchant for buying the right players he can be trusted to spend wisely. Here we bring you three players the German could put into consideration:
Jonas Hector ( Left back, 26)
The German drew lots of attention in the January transfer window but Koln refused to release him as he’s putting up a decent performance for them in the Bundesliga. Hector got a call up from the German national team 3 years ago and has been praised for his outstanding performance in the Euro 2016 tournament, where he played as first choice left-back.
James Milner being deployed to the left-back shows Klopp’s obvious need of a player to take up the position permanently. Buying Hector would be a wise move as at 26, he’s at a stage in his career where he can be expected to thrive in a top club like Liverpool. His ability to also play as a centre half would also be an added advantage as Klopp has had difficulty getting the right player for the position.
Alexandre Lacazette ( Forward, 25)
Klopp has also had issues with his attackers. Daniel Sturridge has been on the bench for a while now as the German tactician has preference for Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino. An attacker of Lacazette’s caliber joining the duo will make the Reds’ attack second to none.
Lacazette, a prolific goal scorer, has been the centre of attraction for many top clubs. The Lyon management have dropped hints that they might be persuaded to let him go if the right offer comes along as far as the club stand to gain monetary wise. At 25, Lacazette will want test his wings in a bigger club and a Premier League club is the right place to do that.
Joe Hart ( Goalkeeper, 29)
Hart was deemed surplus by Pep Guardiola as soon as he became the City manager. The English shot-stopper is enjoying being at the fore front of things at Torino but could possibly be offered a move back to Premier League next season with both West Ham and Arsenal showing interest in his signature.
Liverpool should take advantage of the Hart situation in the summer and do whatever it takes to bring him to Anfield. The Reds goalkeeping department have continue to suffer one blow after the other with German Karius, who everyone though would be the solution to their shot-stopping issues, being even worse than Belgian Mignolet. Karius was dropped in favor of Mignolet, who was also incompetent, almost immediately he moved to Anfield. Hart will definitely be an improvement to the duo and he could be the long awaited answer to their problem between the sticks.
