Liverpool have been searching for the right player to sign to their back line In the summer transfer window and a name that has continue to pop in connection to the Reds is Simon Kjaer of Fernerbache. According to Turkish-football, Liverpool has been keeping an eye on him and scouts were spotted keeping an eye on him during the recent international break. Their interest will be met with opposition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea who have also indicated their interest in him. Little assessment – will he be of benefit to the Reds?

Born and bred in Horsens, Denmark, Kjaer came to prominence when he was at Palermo and Wolfsburg, but he had the highlight of his career with Lille. He left the Ligue 1 side after just two seasons when Fernerbache came calling.

The Denmark International has a total of 3 goals in 33 appearances across all competition this season. A natural central defender, the 28-year old takes pride in frustrating the defense of opposition and he is also an accomplished hold up player.

He is a proper centre-back, strong in the air, and is a player who is tailor-made for the English Premier League. He loves to play long to try and find his teammates in space in dangerous areas and is a player who is not easy to get past.

All this would help Liverpool in the upcoming challenge in Europe next season. Joel Matip’s capability is limited to playing from the back to set up attacks from the deep but Liverpool need an exceptionally skilled player who can come to their aid in tough situations and Kjaer could be the right man for the task.

Dejan Lovren has put up good display for his team but Liverpool have been linked with a move for  Virgil van Dijk and Jose Gimenez recently. Both players are better than Kjaer but the Danish is a more realistic target. At 28, Kjaer’s career is at the apex of his career and If Liverpool could not land their primary defensive target, the Fernerbahce man is as good as any other.
