The agent of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure said he would be happy to negotiate a deal for Yaya to secure a move to Manchester United.
Per Sky Sports‘ Kaveh Solhekol, he quoted Dimitri Seluk saying that the player is “open to negotiations” from other clubs as his future with the Sky Blues remains yet uncertain. The agent said City have not indicated if they are willing to offer Yaya a new deal to remain with Pep Guardiola’s side.
“At this moment the situation like this; from yesterday we officially started negotiating with different clubs about his future,” Seluk said.
He went on saying:
We waited until March 15 for what Manchester City will say but until now Manchester City don’t say anything. Before March, we didn’t negotiate with anybody because Yaya does a lot with Manchester City, so we waited. But we cannot wait until the last minute, until June and have no negotiations with anybody.
Some clubs have contacted me. Now we have three options. I don’t speak about Yaya and China or the MLS. He will play in Europe. I have spoken with clubs in different countries; Italy and Spain.
When asked about the possibility of his client arriving at the Old Trafford, he replied and said: “Why not? Jose Mourinho is a very good coach. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was together with Yaya in Barcelona. I understand this is two clubs who are rivals, but for me, for example, this is not a problem from Yaya or from me, this problem will be from Manchester City staff.”
However, according to Solhekol, Yaya’s main objective is to remain at City, but with Manchester United’s name added on the book, his departure to United might come with protest from Sky Blues supporters.
The Ivorian has recovered his form under the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager in recent weeks after spending enormous time out of his starting XI.
This season, he has just started 14 games in the Premier League, scoring four goals, according to Whoscored.com.
Micheal Carrick’s future with the Red Devils remains in doubt, according to The Telegraph’s James Ducker, Carrick is potentially opening up space in the midfield pack for a new replacement to slot in.
Toure, undeniably has the necessary experience to replace the playmaker, but he would not like-for-like solution. His best are behind him, and a switch to Old Trafford could see him spend more and more time on the bench.
At 33, Yaya wants to be assured of a starting place under Mourinho, and it is unlikely he would pair up in the centre with Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils need a new playmaker to replace Carrick in the summer, and they can make use of young talent in person of Tiemoue Bakayoko of Monaco. He would serve as a more suitable replacement for Carrick.
Per ESPN FC, the 22-year-old is firmly on United’s boss wishlist, and he could move submit his bid for his signature in the summer.
