Manchester United are ready to start negotiations with their Winger Jesse Lingard as Tottenham continues to keep track of the youngster at Old Trafford. As per reports by the Daily Mirror, Tottenham have kept the youngster on their radar as his contract comes to an end this season. Lingard is one of the lowest paid players in the current first team is looking to boost his pay.
The English man is expecting to be paid equally as the Middle band United players and is looking forward to a new five year deal. With Tottenham hovering in the background, United would do well to extend the 24-year old’s contract.
Tottenham have been on a journey to reinforce their squad and made their way into the transfer market last summer signing Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle but the signing have been a fail so far with Sissoko still struggling to find his feet in the team. It would be a rational decision on Pochettino’s part to bring in new players who would give a new face to the Spurs.
Lingard is a product of Manchester United Academy and has progressed through the age group to the first team. He is a prominent member of the United squad and an integral part of their success.
However, with his future at Old Trafford uncertain, Tottenham might as well make an offer for the youngster. Playing for Spurs could convince him to leave United as Spurs’ new stadium close to completion.
Pochettino is known for having a good rapport with with his players and has continually been a source of inspiration to young players. With Lingard struggling to land a permanent spot in the Red Devils team, he might find himself playing regularly under the Argentine manager.
The England International has progressed immensely compared to last season netting 4 goals and setting up 3 assists in 25 appearances this season. His appearance has been more consistent this season but at his age, he needs to appear more often to make a name for himself in the game and White Hart Lane might be where he achieves that.
Moving to another club in England might be hard as he’s had most of his career at Old Trafford, but if he hopes to attain success in his career, White Hart Lane seems the best possible option.
