Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham United on Monday at the London stadium has taken them closer to their second Premier League title in three years. Their qualification into next season Champions League is certain and Antonio Conte is looking to reinforce his squad in anticipation of the European game. Several players have been linked to the club but Real Madrid midfielder Isco is in the best position to enhance the Blues chance at the Champions League. Here are reasons why Conte should sign Isco.
The 24-year-old has played in the top-tier of the La Liga, picking up 35 goals. He appeared with Spain’s junior level and also has 17 appearances for the senior team. He has received limited opportunities in the first team at the Bernabeu due to the 4-3-3 formation not being suited to his style. The attacking midfielder needs to feature more in games and he could get that at the English club.
Isco could make first team instead of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas as Matic has failed to live up to expectations and Fabregas possibly leaving the club at the end of the season.
Isco can play both as a midfielder and as a winger. He is known for his natural ability to pick out an inch-perfect pass, and his ability to dribble effortlessly. In 12 La Liga appearances this season, he has picked up 6 goals and 5 assists. The Spanish player knows his way around the goal and he would go a long way in complementing the effort of N’Golo Kante, just what the Blues need to move forward.
The transfer market is very short on mid-fielders and other clubs will be looking to sign the Spaniard. Loosing him to a rival would spell disaster for Chelsea and would leave them in the market seeking out another player to fill the void. With Isco’s release clause being around £30m, he could be the one that solves Chelsea’s longstanding midfield crisis.
