Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic’s not impressive stats in the Premier League were recorded. The Serbian joined the Reds for a reported fee of £20 million in the summer of 2014, from Portuguese side SL Benfica but was down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers. He was only able to see the net 3 times and one assist from 34 appearances across all competitions and in such scenario, he was drawn under heavy criticism for his ineffective performances.
On his debut season with the Reds, he was shipped out on loan to Turkish side Fenerbahce for the whole of 2015/16 season, where he also failed to make a positive impact. The 22-year-old failed to meet live up with task with the Yellow Canaries and could only bagged 2 goals and notched 3 assists in his 21 appearances, finding it difficult to break into the first-team regularly.
However, hopes were renewed for Markovic to rebuild his career at Anfield ahead of this season with a change in management. But under Reds new manager, Markovic was deemed surplus to requirement once again and as a result, he saw himself back in Portugal with Sporting CP, where he could only amassed 14 appearances till January, scoring just 2 goals, before then returning to England where he joined struggler’s and relegation threatened Hull City.
The Tigers have been suffering in the relegation zone after a brilliant performance under previous manager Mike Phelan, which was why the former Manchester United assistant manager was sacked. Hull under new boss Marco Silva, have manage to come back to life and spark some sort of relive and have shown signs of improvement, but still finding themselves in the 19th place below the safety zone.
One of the main reasons for their coming back to life has been nothing than their recruitment in the winter transfer window. One of the new club recruits by the new boss to the KCOM Arena have made a good impact and one among of the new signings that has shown a brilliant attacking performance in the final-third has been Liverpool loanee Markovic.
The Serbian international may have fixture just four times for the Tigers so far since joining in the winter transfer window, but has seen his stock rise this season so far. Markovic pace and direct running has been a nice addition to the Tigers attack.
The Serbian has only appeared four times for Hull since he joined them during the winter transfer window but he has proved himself worthwhile. His speed has been a worthy addition to the Tigers squad. Despite the match against Manchester United at the start of the month being a goalless one, his performance is one to be remembered and he almost scored a goal for his side with ball barely escaping the net. He also got the honor of being the best player of the day in the Tigers 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
In the short time he has spent at the KCOM Arena, Markovic has proved to be as good as Snodgrass and he can be better if given the opportunity. Hull City is closer to relegation than ever being at bottom of the Premier League alongside Sunderland and Middlesbrough. Markovic might not have a goal to his name yet but has proved that he could help Hull City avoid relegation to the Championship.
