Barcelona star man Neymar is not having the best of time off the pitch as he faces charges and a possible jail term. This scenario has provided Man United boss Jose Mourinho the opportunity to take advantage of the situation and has contacted the Brazilian playmaker with the hope of luring him to Old Trafford in the summer.

As per reports coming form the Spanish media, Man United are to trigger Neymar’s €200M buyout clause and Mourinho has already made personal contact with him with the hope of securing a summer transfer that would smash the world record fee (€105M) paid for Paul Pogba last summer.

It is on record that the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss has been a long admirer of the attacker and had made an attempt to sign in 2012 when he was in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It had sparked a bidding war back then which eventually saw Neymar making the switch to Barcelona from Santos. However, the same transfer is now being investigated for irregularities and this has continue to take its on Neymar and the 24-year-old is now considering a move to England.

Neymar signed a new contract with the Catalans in July 2016 with an increasing buyout clause of a whopping €200M for the first year and an increment of €25M for the subsequent years.

Man United seems undeterred by the amount and are willing to pay, and Mourinho has already been putting calls personally across to Neymar to persuade to move to the Theatre of Dreams, with the Portuguese boss reportedly planning to build his team around the forward.

United have the financial muscle to secure the transfer but it is not certain if the Brazilian would want to move to the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Red Devils’ first-choice target Antonio Grizemann had given the same condition for moving to Trafford in the summer.

United have two options to qualify for the Europe’s elite condition next season which is either to secure a top four finish in the Premier League or to win the Europa League.
