Arsenal were taught some football lessons by Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night as they were thrashed 5-1 in the first leg of the Champions league round of 16 match but despite the demolition, Alexis Sanchez couldn’t be stopped from scoring.
Sanchez scored from a rebound after missing a penalty against Bayern to register his 20th goal of the season. The 28-year-old has been in scintillating form and has been very effective in the central role he has been shifted to this season.
He boasts of an impressive record of 20 goals and 13 assists in 2016/17 season so far, the former Barcelona forward has been involved in an incredible 33 goals in just 31 appearances in all competitions, highlighting his importance to the club.
Sanchez moved to the Emirates from Barcelona in 2014, and he has been one of the Gunners’ most important players. His contribution this season has been immense and has helped them in remaining in the top four in the Premier League.
The Chile international has stalled on signing a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season and he has been strongly linked with a move away from the London club.
The forward has been linked with big clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid, and with the latest development – the 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich which has made their progress in the competition difficult- Sanchez may decide to move to a club that suits his thirst for winning trophies.
