Arsenal fans had looked forward to a convincing win over Watford after their club thrashed Southampton 5-0 in the FA Cup and had hoped to close the gap on Chelsea ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Gunners, second on the league table and nine points behind leaders Chelsea, had the opportunity to throw the title race wide open after Chelsea drew with Liverpool but blew their chance losing 1-2 to a club that was eliminated from the FA Cup by a League One opponent.

Arsene Wenger had boasted of the attacking options available at his disposal after the Southampton match but he could only watch from the stand as his side fell to a 1-2 loss against Watford, which now means their title race is hanging by a thread.

Only a win over Antonio Conte’s men on Saturday may pull the Gunners back in the title and that even look a herculean task to overcome. Wins over Watford and Chelsea would have put them just three points adrift the top spot.

Arsenal defeated Chelsea in the reverse fixture but much has changed about the Blues and a win for Wenger’s men can only be imagined at present. It now appears that Arsenal have let the title slip off from them again as it has been in the past seasons.

In fact from the look of things, Chelsea title rivals have apparently relinquished the title to them. Manchester City and Liverpool are out of the title race while Tottenham can provide no concrete threat for the Blues.

Of course, it would another futile season for Wenger if they miss out on the Premier League crown again.
