Liverpool goalkeeper Karius has been at the receiving end following a string of poor performances that has made the club lose crucial points. The German has come under intense scrutiny after his errors in the loss to Bournemouth and draw with West Ham which made the Reds to drop in the league standings. Jarius conceded six goals in tow games as the Merseysider dropped five points and are now trailing leader Chelsea by six points.
He was criticised by football pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher who both think he is not good enough to play for the Reds and after Jurgen Klopp had leapt to his defence, he was surprised by his omission from the starting line-up, giving the German coach a stern look during the game. Well, Klopp will deny he bowed to the pundits pressure to drop Karius.
Liverpool went ahead to win the game 3-0 with Simon Mignolet between the sticks, overtaking Arsenal into the second position on the table. The Belgian international was able to justify inclusion in the team, as he made impressive saves. With the score at 1-0, he thwarted Viktor Fischer flying shot which was destined for the back of the net.
Karius who arrived Anfield from German side Mainz this summer for £4.7 million has received no assurance from Klopp of his likely return to the first team. The former Dortmund boss made it known that the 23-year-old keeper is a long term project at Liverpool and a return to the first team is not in theplan but he should work on himself.
Obviously there is so much pressure on Karius and it may affect its confidence.
