The Premier League is getting more interesting and the title race is becoming more unpredictable. Moving towards the end of the first half of the season, only Chelsea have remained unscratched this December, their other four title rivals have already felt the heat and latest to be hit was Arsenal.
The Gunners have been unbeaten in the league since their opening day loss to Liverpool at the Emirates but that came to an end at the Goodison park as Everton came from behind to snatch an unlikely victory to end their own dismal run of form.
Ronald Koeman’s side has won just one their last 10 matches and the Everton boss has been under intense scrutiny but at least the win ease some pressure off him and boost their confidence level before the Merseyside derby.
Arsenal had regained ground in the title race after being in the 4th position for sometime and leapfrogged Man City and Liverpool into the second position after some poor results from the two clubs. Getting the three points looked possible for the Gunners following their emphatic wins in their last three matches, defeating West Ham 5-1, Basel 4-1 and Stoke City 3-1.
Alexis Sanchez has been incredible for the Gunners in the central role he has been shifted into but his goal was not just enough against Everton and a six points-gap could be opened at the top of the table if Chelsea win today.
The Chilean forward put Arsenal ahead in the 20th minutes with his 13th league goal but goals from Seamus Coleman a minute before half time and Ashley Williams five minutes to the end denied them a chance to move to the top of the league standings.
It is only Arsenal’s third loss of the season in all competitions but it could mark a major turn in their title race. They face Man City in their next league match.
