Obviously, the results have not matched their performances in recent weeks but the 1-0 win over Tottenham could be all what Man United needed to set their season on the right track. They have had to endure a run of frustrating results in the league after drawing four home matches despite having a larger share of those matches.
And on Sunday, after Henrikh Mkhitaryan has put them ahead in the 29th minute, United fans panicked as the clock ticked and there was no second goal in sight with Spurs mounting pressure to get themselves back into the game. But United were able to preserve their lead and got their deserved three points. The players and Jose Mourinho felt relieved and has a little bit of confidence to go with it as they head into the busy schedule
Mourinho had expressed that moulding the team into the image he wants would time and he tasked the players to come out of their comfort zone and take risks. Things are gradually beginning to take shape as the Portuguese coach wanted it. The players have started showing some positive attitudes which have been helped by the rejuvenated Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Mkhitaryan.
Many thought Mkhitaryan would be out of the club in January before he was introduced to the first team. And after admitting his faults for his poor start in his new club, the former Borussia Dortmund star is starting to repay the faith fans have in him. He has won the man-of-the-match four times as well as scoring two goals and assisting two in four starts
Ander Herrera has been the reason things have looked it in the midfield, giving his mates the freedom to attack while he breaks up opposition attacks and intercept passes.
With their combined efforts and decent results, United can break into the top four at least.
