Alexis Sanchez has been involved in contract saga with his employers since the summer. The Attacker who is currently on £130,000 per week is yet to sign anew contract as Arsenal are yet to give in to his wage demand.
The Chilean international is making a demand of wages in excess of £200,000 per week which is more than 50 per cent increase of his current contract. His contract issue is apparently putting the club under some pressure as they do not want to lose one of their prized assets.
The 27-year-old has 18 months left on his current contract and Arsenal could lose him for nothing at the end of next season. The former Barcelona man obviously deserves a wage increase considering his performances but his demands seems to be too outrageous for the club.
Many top European clubs are closely monitoring his situation at the Emirates, while Man City boss Pep Guardiola has denied making contact with the forward about making a potential move to Etihad, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has declared that he won’t hesitate to sign the forward, should the opportunity present itself in the summer.
That being said, Sanchez move to Chelsea is not impossible. Van Persie moved to Man United in 2012 when it was least expected. Sanchez is not like Thierry Henry, the French striker wouldn’t join any Premier League club when he was at Arsenal, that is a legend. Even Steven Gerrard refused to join any Premier League when he was at Liverpool.
Sanchez has been in impressive form for at Arsenal this season and he is crucial to their title race. He has been thriving in his new role as a central striker, netting 11 goals and assisting four.
Wenger has insisted than his playmaker is not for sale despite the interest from other clubs. However another report claimed the French boss is already targeting a replacement for Sanchez. The report said Wenger is looking towards Monaco star Gabriel Boschila as his potential replacement.
