There seems to be no end in sight yet for the crisis engulfing Manchester United. Their performances has been far from being impressive and their lack of cutting edge in the final third showed again in the match against Arsenal as they failed to kill off the game despite having much control of it. They had five shots on target against the Gunners’ one with which they scored the late equalizer.
United’s frontline has been poor this season. They have only managed 17 goals in 12 league games. They have drawn their last three home league games. Summer arrival Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not been up to his standard, Wayne Rooney is far from his best, Memphis Depay exit is imminent and Anthony Martial is also out of form.
Many players has been linked with the Manchester club in last few days but recently the Old Trafford could be presented with the opportunity of signing Porto new discovery Andre Silva in the next transfer window.
But United would have to trigger the £51 million release clause in his contract. He is being monitored by other big European clubs but United can rely on Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Porto to land the attacker.
The Portuguese is the leading scorer in Liga NOS with 7 goals in 10 matches this season. He is versatile and has demonstrated his prowess with the Portuguese national team and can bring that to Old Trafford.
Man United has never had problems with Portuguese players they have signed in the past and Andre could be a long-term asset. He has an eye for goal and can also create scoring chances for his team-mates. Signing him may look like taking a gamble but with his current form it is worth taking the risk.
