Chelsea are on a perfect run since the 3-0 loss to Arsenal. They have been winning and also not conceding. Winning six consecutive league games is a record already, so winning those six matches without conceding is an achievement on its own.
The 3-0 defeat at Arsenal makes it the last time the Blues had conceded. Their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough over the weekend means they have gone over 540 minutes in the Premier League without having their defence breached.
Only few clubs have previously achieved that feat; the Blues themselves in 2004/2005, 2006/2007 and in 2009/2010; Liverpool in 2005/2006, Man United in 2006/2007 and 2012/2013 and Man City in 2014/2015.
But in the last decade Man United hold the record for most consecutive win without conceding in the Premier League history. The Manchester club under the watch of Sir Alex Ferguson went on a run of nine consecutive wins without conceding in 2008/2009 as they retained the league crown they had won consecutively in the two previous seasons.
Antonio Conte’s side are four matches short of beating United record. Their next two matches are against Tottenham (at home) and away to Man City. These matches will put their title credentials to serious tests. They have not had it smooth against the top four clubs they have faced already this season; losing to both Liverpool and Arsenal consecutively. Their only win against the top six was the 4-0 win over a sloppy Man United.
Keeping their clean sheets and continue winning are the two tasks they will face against Tottenham and Man City. Tottenham remained the only unbeaten team in the league this season and Harry Kane is fit again. Their attacking trio which now include new discovery Harry Wikins, Kane and Son can pose threat to any opposition defence.
Man City have Yaya Toure back in their line-up after three months in exile. The Ivorian grabbed a brace in his first Premier League of the season against Crystal Palace and we all know what is capable of doing. City may not have been winning as expected but they have been scoring so Chelsea clean sheets in both matches are at stake.
