epl summary and fixtures

The English Premier League (EPL) returns this week with Manchester United and Leicester kicking off Friday. United are currently listed as third-favorites at 7/1, behind Manchester City (2/3) and Liverpool (4/1) to win the title, according to MyTopSportsbooks. Manager Jose Mourinho has made a few additions to the squad, but is still looking for more and the club could be facing some unrest heading into the new season.

Man City still possess good value to repeat and have added Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez to their midfield. They also started the season strong with a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday. However, no EPL team has repeated since Man U in 2008/09.

It’s Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool who’ve made transfer market headlines by spending big and bolstering their squad. With the additions of goalkeeper Allison and midfielders Fabinho, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri, Liverpool have added to an already impressive starting eleven which you can check out at the Daily Mail.

Last year’s third place club Tottenham should be in contention again as well. While they haven’t made any additions in the transfer market, they also haven’t lost anyone either. Continuity will remain on the sidelines as well, with Manager Mauricio Pochettino signing a new five-year contract.

Rounding out the top six favorites are Chelsea and Arsenal, who both welcome new managers. Maurizio Sarri joins Chelsea from Napoli, and while his teams are known to be high-scoring, rumors are swirling around the departure of several of his key players.

For the first time in over 20 years Arsenal have a new manager and that man is ex-PSG boss Unai Emery. Emery has added to Arsenals’ defense and will hope to crack the top four after the Gunners’ failed to do so last year.
