According to The Sun, Celtic are considering signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan with Championship side Norwich City, is regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in England.

As a result, it comes as little surprise Celtic are keen on bringing Gunn to Parkhead.

The city shot-stopper is son of former Aberdeen and Scotland goalkeeper Bryan Gunn and is being headhunted by Scotland to switch his international allegiance.

He’s played a pivotal role for Norwich between the sticks this season, so much so the Canaries might want him back on loan next season too. However, if Celtic lodge a satisfactory bid, Gunn could be on his way to Scotland permanently.

Daily Record claim a temporary deal is what Celtic are considering for the goalkeeper.

The loan move for an inexperienced player at the top-level might seem a wise choice, but Celtic’s desperate need for a new shot-stopper says otherwise. They don’t want to be in this situation a year later.

Their first-choice goalkeeper Craig Gordon is yet to return to match fitness after a knee injury. The 35-year-old can’t be seen a long-term option.

Meanwhile, Dorus De Vries has been inconsistent this season and can’t be relied upon either.

Celtic have on-loan Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain, but his deal will expire this summer which forces manager Brendan Rodgers to replace him.

Despite his experience at the top level, Gunn has been in good form in the second tier, making 15 clean sheets in 38 Championship appearances this season. No mean feat.

If Celtic are truly keen on signing Angus Gunn, I personally think it should be on a permanent basis.
