The Scottish FA have confirmed Willie Collum will take charge of this weekend’s crucial Old Firm clash between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox – and Rangers supporters are not too happy at the thought of Collum being in charge.
The referee has been at the centre of a number of high-profile fixtures during his time as a referee – both at home and abroad – and was even demoted by the Scottish FA after a string of errors.
Rangers fans were gutted to see Collum given the massive clash, as confirmed on the SFA’s official website, although some fans were simply relieved with this news that it wasn’t John Beaton who was in charge on Sunday.
His appointment for Rangers v Celtic will almost certainly leave both sides of fans unhappy with a string of errors involving Celtic too.
The lunchtime clash could see Graeme Murty’s men close to within three points of their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership and open the title race wide open with only a handful of games left in the season.
The last meeting between the dup was December’s 0-0 draw at Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers’ men failed for the second time to strong Rangers side despite the gulf between the two teams.
