If it had known be hat-trick from James Forrest, Celtic may not have progressed to the last eight of the Scottish Cup with a 3-2 win over Partick, but fans were left disappointed by Jozo Simunovic’s performance in the game.
The Bosnian centre-back was back in the side after being left out of the game against Kilmarnock, but Simunovic’s performance has only more questions than answers about his future at the Paradise.
Simunovic was woefully short with a backpass to goalkeeper Dorus de Vries which allowed Kris Doolan to score for the Partick first goal, then he was bullied and easily turned by Conor Sammon for Thistle second goal.
Simunovic was previously dropped from the Hoops side after a dreadful performance in the 4-0 defeat to Hearts in December.
With Jack Hendry available for the Europa League game against Zenit on Thursday, it seems likely that the new signing will partner Kristoffer Ajer at the back for Celtic in the match, as Simunovic just isn’t playing well enough to merit a place in the starting line-up.
With Marvin Compper also on back in action and Dedryck Boyata to return from injury, it would not come as a surprise if the Bosnian moved to pastures new in the summer, as his days in Glasgow look to be numbered with performances like this..
The centre-back was previously dropped from the Brendan Rodger’s side after a poor performance in the 4-0 defeat to Hearts in December.
