There is a report claiming Celtic are reportedly targeting Jack Rodwell who is ready to leave Sunderland, but is likely to be looking for a payoff from the Black Cats, according to Sky Sports News HQ.
Rodwell is claimed to currently be in a stand-off situation with the Championship side, who have offered to terminate his contract and allow him leave the club on a free transfer.
The ex-Everton player is keen on leaving the Black Cats this January, but it is claimed that Rodwell is likely to be looking for a payoff to do so as he has 18 months left on his current deal which he earns £70,000 per week.
He has been linked with reigning Scottish champions, who are reportedly keeping a close watch on his situation at the Stadium of Light.
The 26-year-old has played just 104 minutes of Championship football for Chris Coleman‘s side so far this season. The Black Cats signed him from Manchester City in 2014, paying around £10m mark to capture the midfielder, from whom much was expected.
He has won three senior appearances for England after representing the country at various youth levels.
In other Sky Sports News, Crystal Palace have not yet submit a bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.
The young Frenchman has been reported to leave the Scottish champions if the right bid comes in and it was claimed in December that Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion had agreed a fee for his services.
Those claims were rebuffed by the club, but that hasn’t put speculation over his future away, with Roy Hodgson‘s side linked with him. But so far, the Eagles have not sent a bid to the club for the former Fulham star.
It remains to be seen if the Eagles will submit an offer for Dembele in an attempt to take him to Selhurst Park this month.
