Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has confirmed he wants to leave the Spanish giants in January but insists he has not held talks with Arsenal or any other Premier League club.
N’Zonzi has been left out of Sevilla’s squad for their final Champions’ League group game on Wednesday and fuelled speculation of a January return to England after arriving in London at the start of the week.
However, the ex-Stoke City midfielder has distanced himself from report of a January move to the Emirates, revealing he is only in London to visit his son and not to meet Arsenal or any other club he could potentially join.
N’Zonzi told France Football via London Evening Standard: “My future is clearly elsewhere than in Sevilla.”
“The only thing that disappoints me is the manner in which this is ending.
“But what bothers me is the way it’s going. It had never been bad with a coach before. I never had that kind of problem.
“I’m indeed in London, but it’s got nothing to do with a transfer or football. I’ve come to see my son who lives here and to spend some time with him. As you can see, it’s not a question of signing for Arsenal or anywhere else.”
N’Zonzi was heavily linked with a move Manchester City at this stage of last season but City boss Pep Guardiola‘s side have cooled their interest in the France international since then.
The 28-year-old has developed into one of the finest central midfielders in Spain since he left Stoke to join Sevilla in 2015.
Just so you know, N’Zonzi has completed the most passes in La Liga since the start of the current season, (3,157).
