Barcelona president Joan Laporta stated on Thursday that the club is expecting for a “good answer” from Bayern Munich after making an offer for its Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

“We made an offer for the player, we’re waiting for a reaction, and we’ll see if it’s positive,” Laporta stated at the presentation of new signing Andreas Christensen.

Bayern have previously stated that Lewandowski, who has expressed a desire to leave the German champions this summer, must fulfil the terms of his contract, which expires in June 2023.

“We thank the player (Lewandowski) for all of his demonstrations to show that he wants to come,” Laporta added.

The 33-year-old striker, who was twice named FIFA’s finest male player, scored 238 Bundesliga goals in 252 appearances for Bayern over eight years.

Laporta stated that they wanted to show Bayern respect and did not mention the value of the offer. However, he denied rumours that the German club, concerned of Barcelona’s financial predicament, demanded upfront payment for Lewandowski’s departure.

“I don’t believe it,” said Laporte. “I believe it’s information from a cat and it was a joke. It doesn’t come from Bayern.”

At the end of June, the German press indicated that Baraa had offered Bayern 40 million euros plus 5m euros bonus for the Pole.

“We made an offer and they must now weigh it up,” Laporta said, without giving further details.

At the same press conference, the club’s sporting advisor Jordi Cruyff confirmed the likely departure of French defender Clement Lenglet who is expected to go on loan imminently to Tottenham.

“We are very close to a departure, it will be announced when it is official,” said Cruyff.

Dembele’s agent spotted at Inter

Moussa Sissoko, the agent of Ousmane Dembele, has been photographed entering the offices of Serie A side Inter Milan, as speculation about the forward’s future persists.

The Frenchman is a free agent after his contract expired at the end of June, but president Joan Laporta has confirmed that an offer for the attacker is being considered.

Dembele has yet to agree to the renewal deal, and it is unclear whether he will, nor is it known if he has any other options.

The presence of Sissoko in Italy will fuel speculation regarding a move to the Nerazzurri, however it’s worth noting that the agent also represents other players.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has been linked with a move for Brazilian Raphinha, who may join from Leeds and replace Ousmane Dembele.

Previously, it was expected that Barcelona might field both Raphinha and Dembele, but Mundo Deportivo reports that the Catalans will have to pick between the two forwards.
