With West Ham United starting the Premier League season in poor form, Football Weeks have highlighted three players who need to up their.

Last Monday, the Hammers bid farewell to Slaven Bilic who paid the price for the club’s dire start to the season with his job. West Ham currently sit 18th in the Premier League table and look set for a relegation battle unless new boss David Moyes can mastermind a turnaround.

With the players currently with their national teams, here are three underperforming West Ham players who need to step up their games after the international break.

Joe Hart

Joe Hart West Ham

The last few years have seen a fall from grace for Joe Hart. After a brilliant loan spell at Torino, the England goalkeeper now finds himself at the London Stadium, with his Manchester City future seemingly coming to an end and his place as England NO. 1 under severe threat.

Hart has endured an unstable start to life at West Ham and would have been expected to impress more against a side with one of the worst defences in the division. If he wants to continue playing between the sticks for England and claim his spot as West Ham No. 1, he’ll need to up his game after the international break.

Javier Hernandez

Javier Hernandez

Many Premier League fans praised the signing Javier Hernandez as one of the signings of the summer for West Ham when the former Bayer Leverkusen forward put pen to paper on a deal to bring him to the London Stadium. However, his signing hasn’t gone has planned for West Ham.

With four goals in 11 league games, two of which came against Southampton, Chicharito’s start to life in London hasn’t been disastrous and the Hammers’ reliance on him has been a hampering factor, but looking back on his time at Manchester United, we know the Mexican is capable of more.

David Moyes will have to find a way to make use of him – utilising him as a striker rather than a wide attacker would – help his new side push up the table.

Andre Ayew

André Ayew Pelé

After an underwhelming performance against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, West Ham fans have been left asking why the Ghanaian forward can’t replicate that kind of form for the club in the Premier League.

With Andy Carroll and Diafra Sacko misfiring, a consistent stretch of form from Ayew would significantly ease the pressure and reliance on Javier Hernandez. Ayew has the potential to be an incredibly dangerous player at times, but The Hammers expect more than two goals and two assists from one of their most gifted players.

West Ham will return to Premier League fixture away at the Vicarage Road against Watford and David Moyes will be hoping his first match in-charge of the Hammers yield a positive result.
