Crystal Palace’s smart summer of business continued on Thursday afternoon after it was announced that they have secured the services of Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah for the new season.
The 19-year-old will join the Blues’ Ruben Loftus-Cheek in becoming the second player to arrive at Selhurst Park on a season-long loan, and could be in books to start against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Speaking to the club official website, he said:
“The manager spoke to me about coming down to join Crystal Palace and it was clear that he wanted me to be part of his squad which as a player gives you a great feeling straight away.
“I must now repay that back by putting in some good performances for the club.
“I am only 19 years old and still have a lot to learn and therefore getting the opportunity to play more games on a regular basis will help my development.”
He made the breakthrough into the Red Devils starting eleven under Louis van Gaal, registering ten appearances in the 2015-16 season and impressing with how quickly he adapted to first-team football at Old Trafford, but opportunities have been limited since Mourinho’s arrival last year.

Love the way we are bringing in young, strong, athletic and versatile players. Loftus-Cheek and Fosu-Mensah are both 6 foot 3!#CPFC

Meaning no Sakho deal. I genuinely feel bad for Mama. Should be brought back into the fold at #lfc, would still be their best defender

If we get Fosu-Mensah, that means we can't loan Sakho because we have 2 domestic loans. It pretty much kills the deal ☹️ #CPFC

Fosu-Mensah away on loan all season is a mistake.

Still hard to believe Tim Fosu-Mensah is still only 19, this loan move will do him and United a world of good

Why is Fosu Mensah going out on loan when we have no back up RB for Valencia? Does this mean we'll be signing a RB? ?#mufc #manunited

Fosu mensah going to palace just means we are signing either aurier or roberto. Aurier more likely after his hearing #MUFC
