Antonio Conte has continuously been linked with some of European best players and a name that has consistently been making rounds is James Rodriguez of Real Madrid. The Colombian international is a player that know his turf and is a transfer target for some of European top clubs but it is no surprise that Conte is willing to go the extra mile to sign him. Will the move favor both parties?
He came to prominence after an outstanding display in the World Cup in Brazil but he has had difficulty breaking into the first team at Real Madrid under manager Zinedine Zidane. Despite that, he has managed to pick up 5 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances across all competition this season and is among the best in the league. He wants more playing time and as he might not be getting that at Real Madrid, he is ready to move away from the Bernabeu come season end.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool have also indicated interest in him but a move to Stamford Bridge will prove more favorable for Rodriguez this summer. Conte might be seeing the back of Eden Hazard this summer and that would leave him with just Willian and Pedro in the team’s attack next season and Rodrguez is on a par with the both of them. He is a versatile player who can play in several positions across the midfield or front-line, having played as a play maker, winger, and central midfielder for both club and country, and his style of play and dribbling skills are quite exceptional. Conte, who gas affinity for versatile players, will be pleased to have him over.
A cool and composed finisher, the 25-year old is a goal threat from anywhere on the pitch. He is accomplished in his ability to create chances for team-mates and making the first team will be a piece of cake for him. And if Eden Hazard should leave, he will become an integral part of the team.
He’s never played for a Premier League side but he possesses all the skill needed to make an impact in Premier League. He may not be strong in air but he is not afraid to venture into the dangerous part of the pitch and this will make him a hit in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich might not be able to fulfill the Colombian’s desire to play more consistently and Liverpool’s interest isn’t well defined but Chelsea can afford to have him in the starting XI and this will help Rodriguez decide on his next decision.
