Clubs in the top six have all experienced ups and downs as far as this season is concerned. There has been strange and surprise upsurge at the top of the table and the summit of the league has been occupied by at least three different clubs this season, but that has remained unchanged since Chelsea got there back in November.

Arsenal have slipped from second to fourth place and are three points behind arch-rivals Tottenham who now occupy the second place with a better goal difference.

The Gunners have not finished below Spurs since 1995 when they finished 7th while Arsenal ended that season in the 12th position. But that could finally happen this season due to Arsene Wenger’s men poor form.

While Wenger is finding it difficult to get result at Arsenal, including consecutive defeats to Watford and Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino has transformed Tottenham and that can be seen in their surge up the league table.

Though winning the league will be more prestigious, finishing above Arsenal will give Tottenham some bragging rights over their London rival.

They are now nine points behind league leaders Chelsea, in fact it is only the Blues brilliancy that can stop again.

Last season they had a rare opportunity and looked on course to win their first title but a draw against Chelsea in May ended it all and they are ready to have another go at it.

There are still 14 league games to be played and it is left to see if Tottenham will break the over 20 years record that has stood against them by finishing above Arsenal.
