Arsenal star man Alexis Sanchez could be heading to back to Spain as Atletico Madrid are prepared to offer him a contract worth £220,000 a week in order to leave the club, according to reports.

The Chilean international contract issue has remained unresolved since last summer and his current contract is billed to expire at the end of next season. Arsenal have already offered him £160,000 per week but he is yet to sign the deal giving Atletico the opportunity to manoeuvre themselves in.

Apart from the issue of wages the former Barcelona forward has also not been a happy figure and he is not satisfied with the nonchalant attitude of his teammates who don’t seem to have the same winning mentality as he does, questioning the club’s ambitions all together.

It is believed that Atletico Madrid are interested in the services of Sanchez who has been targeted as an ideal replacement for Antoine Griezmann who could join Manchester United this summer.

The French superstar is expected to fetch his £86million release clause, which will enable Atletico to bid about £35m for Sanchez.

Sanchez moved to the Emirates from Barcelona in 2014 and has been instrumental to their title charge this season, scoring 15 goals in the process.

He has rejected an offer worth £400,000 a week to move to the Chinese Super League as he prefers to remain in Europe and compete at the highest level. It is left to see if the South American forward would fancy a move back to Spain.
