Diego Costa is reportedly seeking. way out of Stamford Bridge thus January and this will be a rude shock to Chelsea fans who wouldn’t want to lose their star player with the Premier League race still on. Though an exit during the January transfer window is largely unlikely due to the fact that the club hierarchy are not ready, if at all, to sell him until the summer.
The trying ground dispute over his fitness with Antonio Conte involved led to his being dropped from the team that defeated Leicester City 3-0 though the Italian manager claimed the Spanish forward was absent due to a back injury.
Reports have it that the former Atletico Madrid attacker wants out of Chelsea because he hates English football and the FA, and has told friends that he is not happy in the Premier League and he will push a move away from the London club this January.
There are also reports of the Spain international being offered a whooping £80 million by Tianjin Quanjian to move to the Chinese Super League and Chelsea don’t seem to be taking the reports lightly as they are said to be preparing a huge transfer bid for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea are ready to offer the Germany international £75 million as a potential replacement for Costa. Costa had wanted to rejoin Atletico Madrid in the summer but was talked into extending his stay at Chelsea by Conte but the fall out between the pair seemed to have re-ignited the earlier shelved decision to leave the league leaders.
This is football and happenings are unpredictable but the sale of Costa and purchase of Muller both look impossible this January. Even if Costa succeeded in leaving, Muller will not join Chelsea who are not participating in the Champions League.
Bearing all that in mind, Chelsea have recalled striker Patrick Bamford from Burnley but he is not expected to get into the first team right away. Costa exit will leave Chelsea with Michy Batshuayi as the only striker. The Belgian forward has not been impressive since joining in the summer and his compatriot Eden Hazard may be used instead.
