Man United fans may see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the club’s jersey beyond this season. The Swede was brought in alongside other players like Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly in the summer after Jose Mourinho was appointed as the new manager of the club.

The Swedish striker arrived on a free transfer from French giants and has since impressed at Old Trafford. There had earlier been different thoughts of how he will cope in a league as physical and rigorous as the Premier League but obviously he has proved all his doubters wrong.

The Barcelona forward scored five goals in his first five matches but went blank as the club struggled as a whole, losing points from winning position. He scored just a goal in 11 appearances during that torrid period but he has since bounced back, banging in goals as expected of him. He has gone on to score 10 goals in his last nine appearances – 11 goals in 16 league games and overall 16 goals in 25 games this season for United.

His current contract expired at the end of this season and has been linked with a £120 million offer from Chinese clubs but his agent Mino Raiola has reportedly said that his client will stay beyond this season at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has also confirmed it and he is confident the 35-year-old will be at Old Trafford next season. He was also linked with a move to China in the summer but chose to join United instead.

His goals have been crucial to Man United’s survival so far. Man United faithfuls will be delighted with such news as the former Inter Milan forward is gradually becoming a hero at the club and to be candid he deserves an extension.
