Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been phenomenal this season. The Spanish forward has been in scintillating form for the Blues; when his not scoring, he is providing the assists. He provided the assist for the winner against Tottenham over the weekend. And as showed by statistics, he has been involved in more goals this season than Barcelona and Real Madrid super stars.
The former Atletico Madrid man managed just 12 goals last season as the club as a whole suffered their worst season in this Roman Abrahimovic era. The £32 million signing from Atletico in 2014 was a hit in his first season in England as he bagged 21 goals, helping Chelsea to the league title and also winning the Golden boot.
But the usual second season syndrome for the player and Mourinho’s unavoidable third season syndrome saw both the player and the club experienced a decline that made them finished 10th last season.
In what is a sharp contrast to last season, Chelsea are on top of the league while Costa is also leading the league scoring chart with 10 goals, capping it with 4 assists.
Not even Cristiano Ronaldo (10 goals and 2 assists) or Lionel Messi (9 goals and 3 assists) has scored more league goals or been involved in more goals than him.
He is also ahead other top strikers in Europe like Lius Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Gonzalo Higuain, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Aguero and Gareth Bale. He has only Pierre-Emerick Aubama ahead of him in the goal scoring chart.
Stats showed scored an average 0.77 goal per game and with 25 games to go in the league; he can score additional 19 goals.
