It happened at Chelsea and Real Madrid and a repeat of this looks inevitable at the moment. Four months into his reign at Manchester United, Jose Mourinho norm of criticising his players publicly, especially after a defeat is already roaring its ugly head.
The public downgrading of his player after the 2-1 loss at Fernabache means he might lose the dressing room at Old Trafford earlier than expected. Mourinho is one coach that blames everyone else but himself for a result that didn’t go his way.
It is no gainsaying that Manchester United as a club may not be used to this as such rarely happened during the 27-year tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson. The club may not be used to a manager that complains, criticize and attack his own players. They may need to put on their endurance kits.
The former Inter Milan boss appeared to have lost the patience with the United squad after openly declaring that the club has many ‘players with problems’ with Luke Shaw who just returned from injury the first to feel the heat.
He had called United’s performance against Fernabache as ‘that of a summer friendly’. His current mood replicates his final season at Real Madrid and his final months at Chelsea last season.
His successes at previous clubs and crazy drive to get out result at all cost are probably taking a toll on him. He has proven track record of successes wherever he goes and that cannot be taken from him but in most cases he had inherited an established team.
His criticism of Shaw and Smalling has been met with opposite reaction from the PFA chief Gordon Taylor. Daley Blind, Marco Rojo and Eric Bailly have all experienced the same while he is yet to reinstate Bastian Schweinsteiger to the first team.
At Real Madrid he had brawls with Iker Casillas, Pepe, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo. Last season at Chelsea he lost his dressing room and it eventually led to his sack.
Change is the only constant thing in life and it is expected in this scenario also.
