Life with West Ham United is not going as planned for Manuel Pellegrini, as the 64-year-old former Manchester City boss has lost his opening four Premier League matches since his appointment as the Hammers new boss. Pellegrini is now at 4/1 (behind Jose Mourinho who’s at 3/1) on Next Premier League Manager To Leave Odds.
A last-minute goal from Adama Traore at the weekend denied the Hammers of leveling one point each with Wolverhampton Wanderers, which has seen West Ham down to the bottom of the table with a huge mountain to climb in making out of relegation drop zone.
Although, it’s just four matches to the new season with 34 Premier League fixtures left, but there are some people who are already expecting Manuel Pellegrini to be sacked by the club’s hierarchy, and in such instance, Football Weeks have picked out four men with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that could potentially be in line for the job at the London Stadium.
Here we go…..
Arsene Wenger
After his twenty-two memorable years at managing Arsenal, Arsene Wenger had his farewell with the Premier League club last season, but he has not returned to management with any club/country since his exit from Arsenal. Wenger, however, would welcome the chance of returning to the English top-flight and a move to manage West Ham United could attract both him and the club.
Although, the Frenchman may lack the flare and charisma the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino and Maurizio Sarri possess, but Wenger would be an ideal candidate for a struggling Hammers, as he would surely bring with him a positivity around a stadium devoid of confidence, and looks an ideal replacement for Pellegrini, should he leave.
Sam Allardyce
It’s has been reported that former West Ham striker Tony Cottee has called his former side’s board to get of Pellegrini in favour of Sam Allardyce, as he feels the former England boss is the only man that can save the Hammers from the relegation drop zone.
Allardyce managed West Ham from 2011 and 2015, where he mastermind their promotion from the Championship, as they defeated Blackpool in the play-off final at Wembley, whilst managing to maintain the club’s stance at the top-flight level, but despite all this achievements, not many would be pleased seeing him return to the club.
David Moyes
Once appointed to save the club from relegation, David Moyes achieved this goal as having taken over West Ham, where they sat bottom of the Premier League, Moyes, who signed a six-month deal in November 2017, helped the Hammers finish 13th in the table and secured the club’s top-flight status.
However, Moyes was not offered the managerial position on a full-time, and he left West Ham in May as Pellegrini was given the job. With West Ham keeps struggling, Moyes could be lined up as his replacement, and this time, the Scot could be given a longer contract to try and turn things around at a struggling club.
Rafael Benitez
Rafael Benitez’s relationship with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley looks spiky and if this continues, the Spaniard could leave the club in the next few months, and he would be an ideal choice to take over the Hammers.
A top-class manager, having previously managed Real Madrid and Chelsea, the Magpies boss would be instantly welcomed by the Hammers fans, and while Benitez’s appointment could be terminated in the next few months, he doesn’t look he’s going to join a club struggling for results, but there’s a negativity around the London Stadium which needs to change quickly.
Up next for West Ham is Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United, so Manuel Pellegrini’s future could be determined by these fixtures, so fans, let’s have you say below, who would you want as a replacement for the South American manager?
