According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are ‘leading the race’ for playmaker Jack Grealish who is ‘ready to quit Aston Villa’ this summer.
The 22-year-old wants a return to the Premier League and is waiting for Spurs to make an official bid to take him to White Hart Lane. After Villa lost in the Championship playoff final to Fulham, Grealish could be one of many headed for the exit door.
The English u21 international rose from the youth ranks to the Villa first-team in 2013 and has gone on to make 110 appearances in all competitions. Grealish impressed for the Midlands outfit last season, contributing 11 goals in 34 games across the board and has picked up a lot of admirers.
Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham United and Leicester City have been linked this summer, but Grealish is reportedly more open to joining Spurs.
With manager Mauricio Pochettino successfully developing young talent like Deli Alli, Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Harry Kane, Grealish may feel he could follow in their footsteps if he learns from the Argentine boss.
Villa’s spiralling financial situation, caused by owner Tony Xia halting investment from China, will lead to high-profile exits from Villa Park. Grealish will be sold for the right price and Spurs could capitalised on the situation.
