According to Sky Italia, Chelsea could agree a deal with AC Milan for Alvaro Morata, with the Spanish striker struggling in his debut season at Stamford Bridge. The 25-year-old was left out of Spain’s World Cup squad and reportedly wants out of Chelsea to resurrect his career in Italy.

Morata joined the Blues from Real Madrid last summer and has gone on to make 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating a respectable 21 goals. However, the former Juventus centre-forward netted just three Premier League goals since November 2017 and lost his place to Olivier Giroud in the second-half of his debut season as a result.

His agent Beppe Bozzo is believed to have held talks with Milan over a potential deal this summer, although Juventus’ interest could prove a stumbling block. Antonio Conte may also play a part in deciding Morata’s future. If he leaves as expected, his successor may want to keep the squad intact before allowing players to leave.

The Spaniard spent two years in Italy, making 93 appearances for Juventus, before joining Real in 2016, and could be returning to the Serie A this summer. His potential departure would force Chelsea into signing a replacement, and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is believed to be on their radar.
