Celtic wasted no time welcoming Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard to the Scottish Premier League after the ex-England international was appointed manager of arch-rivals Rangers on Friday.
Gerrard, formerly the coach of Liverpool’s u18 side, said he accepted the job as a “feeling in his stomach” showed him it was the right move.
The 37-year-old will have quite the job on his hands, however, with Brendan Rodgers dominating the league since his arrival in 2016 – winning two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cup and one Scottish Cup.
The Hoops made sure to let Gerrard know how tough it will be to challenge them next season as they plan to win their eighth consecutive league crown.
Just few minutes after Rangers announced their new manager, Celtic posted an image of Rodgers holding a bottle of champagne with the caption “#Magnificen7.”

The Gers new boss, meanwhile, claimed that his accepting of Rangers’ offer was a “no brainer.”
“When the call came it was a no brainer for me. I got a different feeling in my stomach from the previous opportunities I had.
”My lack of experience is not an issue for me, though seems to be an issue for other people. I have been around a big football club for a long time, played in big matches, watched big managers perform and worked under big managers.
“There is only one way to get experience, one day I will be an experienced manager and the key is to believe in yourself and that you have the right characteristics to take on the challenge head on.
“I have confidence this journey will help me. I’m looking forward to the schooling.”
We should see Gerrard leading his side out in June for their friendly fixtures.
