Manchester United travel to the Vitality Stadium to face AFC Bournemouth in Wednesday’s night Premier League meeting.
Jose Mourinho‘s men suffered a shocking 1-0 home defeat to relegation-bound West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and will be be hoping to return to winning ways ahead of their FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Predicted lineup (4-2-3-1)
David De Gea has been indispensable for United this season. The Spanish international has kept 16 clean sheets in the Premier League and will hope to extend this record against the Cherries.
Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young should start at right-back and left-back respectively. There could be new partnership at centre-back, however, with Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling potentially being rested for the Wembley showdown. In their places, Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof could earn some much-needed gametime.
In midfield, one player who might not be present against Bournemouth is Nemanja Matic, as he may too be rested for the Tottenham match. Scott McTominay should get the nod in Matic’s absence, and we are backing the Scotland international to partner Spaniard Ander Herrera.
Herrera could start ahead of Paul Pogba who has struggled for consistency this season.
In attack, Mourinho might consider resting Romelu Lukaku, meaning we could see Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford making the starting XI. The pair have been used from the bench in recent weeks but should get their chance against the Cherries.
Alexis Sanchez should play in his regular left-wing role with Martial on the right, while Jesse Lingard reclaims his number 10 role. Lingard has find the net eight times and made four assists in 17 Premier League starts this season.
Rashford should be given a chance to impress as a lone striker on Wednesday night. The 20-year-old has scored and created 11 goals in 14 Premier League starts this season.
